Camping Boho Birthday-Christian’s 10th Birthday Party-Part 1

Calling all happy campers! I am super excited to share the photos from Christian’s recent 10th birthday party! I can’t believe how quickly he has grown and that he is now in the double digits! Kids really do grow up so fast. Big sigh…

When we started discussing his party, Christian knew he wanted it to be a camping/sleepover theme party! There was so much to celebrate about this big birthday and I wanted to plan a very memorable party for him turning 10! Unfortunately, where we live, the weather is not conducive to outdoor camping in March. However, we didn’t let that stop us from bringing the outdoors inside! So…Welcome to “Camp Christian!”

Today, I will be highlighting the dessert table. One of the highlights of this party was the donut wall backdrop. Donuts are all the rage right now and I knew I wanted to add lots of donuts to this party. As you know, all campsites are full of donuts, right?!? Too funny!

I asked our good friends to build this custom donut wall and then began adding delicious donuts in coordinating colors on the pegs. I purchased a wooden letter “C” and designed a printable 5×7 sign, “Donut You Wish You Were Here”. I was thrilled at how easy this was to do and what a great backdrop it turned out to be.

Another huge trend right now are drip cakes that are topped off with lots of mini goodness! This s’more cake from Pretty Sweet, had mini donuts, marshmallows, mini meringues, and my fav macarons! Oohhh this was a delicious, 4-layer cake! Yum!

Sticking with more s’mores, I added this S’more Station to the table and filled glass jars with marshmallows and graham crackers. Small galvanized buckets were filled with various mini chocolate bars for everyone to choose from.

This tiered tray is perfect for dessert tables and was large enough for the glass jars, buckets, and paper bags filled with home made trail mix. This recipe was adapted from Jenny’s Cookies amazing book, “Eat More Dessert”. I made this delicious mix with Cheerios cereal, mini marshmallows, salted peanuts, almonds, M&M’s, and chocolate drops. The cute little tag is included in the new printable package that will available in the shop soon!

Tip: don’t fill brown paper bags with trail mix unless you first use a plastic baggie as a liner. The oil from the peanuts was quickly absorbed by the brown bags and looked very greasy. Lesson learned! Fortunately, the boys didn’t seem to be bothered by it. They were too busy inhaling the trail mix! Hungry Campers!

A dessert table isn’t complete without cupcakes! I baked two different kinds of chocolate cupcakes and then added a few different toppings. My BFF made these yummy Rolo cupcakes awhile back and I knew that these would be a hit at the party…and they were! I whipped up my favorite chocolate buttercream icing, and added Skor bits and Rolos to the top of each cupcake. A few other cupcakes had teeny tiny marshmallows! You can’t have too many s’mores! Notice how I used pretzel sticks to attach the cupcake toppers? A little woodsy feel plus the salt from the pretzel mixed with the sweetness of the Rolos was divine.

The second batch of chocolate cupcakes included buttercream icing, chocolate drizzle, caramel popcorn and pretzels! So delicious and really simple to create.

These AMAZING cookies were superb and created by our sweet friend, Christy from Dolce Custom Cookies. She matched the cookies to the printables perfectly. She seriously is the best!

More mini donuts were added to the top of the milk bottles and finished off with a wood grain paper straw, and more printables. So cute, right!?!

I loved how these mini kraft ripple cups filled with popcorn turned out. They make great little snacks and are super cute!

I baked our favorite snickerdoodle cookies, bundled them into stacks, and then added these mini arrow wood pins from Michaels. They matched the theme perfectly!

Thank you for stopping by our campsite! So many more photos coming to the blog tomorrow! See you then!

Soccer Theme Birthday Party-Last Minute Party Comes Together

Hello Friends! Today’s post is all about last minute party planning. I know I am not the only one that has faced this situation, but this is the first time I was the one frantically organizing a birthday party and it happened to be Christian’s 9th birthday party! March is always a busy month for us, but this year we were hit HARD with the flu bug. I was out for 2 weeks and it happened during the week of Christian’s party. Ugh! All of the countless ideas that I had planned to do or make were thrown out since I knew I would not be able to put everything together. To be honest, I was not going to post this party, but the more I thought about it, I realized this does happen, so let’s share a few tips + tricks when faced with this situation.

Oh, did I mention, another challenge was this party was not held at our house. It took place at our community soccer centre,  so I only had 30 minutes to set up a simple, dessert table in a room with yellow tinted walls and poor lighting. Cringe! Fortunately, the large printable poster added color and was a perfect backdrop for the dessert table.

I used the most popular printables that we sell as these really are the decorations that make the most impact on a table. When pressed for time, use cupcake toppers, water bottle labels, a banner, and few other printables for cake toppers and gumball containers. Voila! You have a dessert table in minutes!

Several weeks before the party, I had ordered chocolate covered oreos, fondant toppers, and delicious sugar cookies from Alison at Whippt  so these were easy to incorporate on the table. I also included a cello wrapped cookie in each of the favor bags.

Tanya from the Cake Bake Shoppe was able to decorate a simple, fun cake that worked well with the table. It was delicious, too! Yummy! I topped it off with printable flags and a 4 inch circle from the collection.

One of my absolute favorite items on the table were these Marquee Leters from Michaels We have since added these to Christian’s room. These are a fun addition for boys’ bedroom decor!

Candy jars filled with green, black, and white gum balls were topped off with printable flags.

I did not have time or the right space to hang the soccer paper lanterns, so I lined them down the center of the table. Takes seconds to do!

What’s a sports themed party without popcorn? Our family LOVES popcorn (I think I have said that many times before!) These coordinating black striped bags are super easy to serve popcorn in. I love how the star matches the star on some of the printables! It’s the little details that make a party! Even when you have very little time.

For the favor bags, I filled crisp, white bags with soccer theme goodies topped off with coordinating printables. I love the Black striped ribbon from Michaels

Christian handed out soccer balls (purchased at Wal Mart) and the favor bags at the end of the party.

Happy Birthday to our sweet boy and thank you for being the BEST kid ever!

Love you, xoxo

Also, a BIG thank you to all the moms/friends that helped me pull off this party at the last minute. I couldn’t have done it without you!

Here are a few of the details that I was able to put together for this soccer theme party:

  • Large poster and a selection of personalized printables
  • Delicious sweets including a small cake, cupcakes, cookies, and chocolate covered oreos
  • Marquee letters are a must! They come in various sizes and colors. Bonus: they can be used for parties and room decor. Buy them on sale or with your weekly Michaels coupon!
  • Easy treat bags filled with candy, cookies, soccer temporary tattoos, and a gift card to a local juice bar (A little nutrition makes all moms feel better, doesn’t it?). Include inexpensive soccer balls. P.S. Forget the dollar store toys that fall apart within minutes. These may seem like a good, cost-savings idea, but they really aren’t.
  • Finally…if possible, don’t be afraid to ask for help! No one is super woman and it is okay to lean on friends. Before you know it, everything will be set up and you will have had a few giggles along the way.

Thank you for letting me be honest and feel free to share your best tips!

Happy Planning,

Antonia

Christmas Tea Party {FREE PRINTABLES}

The holiday season is here and I am very happy to share with you today the photos and FREE printables from a shoot that I styled earlier this year for Twinkle Twinkle Little Party Magazine. It was a thrill to work once again with Andressa, editor and creative genius of TTLP Magazine . If you haven’t had a chance, you must see this magazine! Grab a cup of your favorite tea and enjoy the talents of so many amazing stylists.

The theme this year was “Christmas in the Spring” and I decided to style a tea party play date for girls to enjoy and to start thinking about their Christmas wish list. Since it was summer, I wanted to use bright, jewel tones, rather than the traditional Christmas colors of red and green. I also kept the designs simple without a lot of Christmas graphics, so the printables can be used all year!

I began by styling a small dessert table filled with delicious treats and a few touches of Christmas details!
